The Canvas is a virtual space where art can be viewed, enjoyed and engaged with. In creating this magazine, we want to illustrate the breadth of art coming out of the University of Reading and its surrounding community, art which will be included in following issues. Everything from visual art to spoken word, poetry, prose, flash fiction, photography, paintings, and performance art is welcome in The Canvas.a
1. To contribute please email your submission to the thecanvas@reading.ac.uk, making sure to include ‘the canvas submission’ in the subject line.
2. Each submission must be the work of the person submitting and must include the title of the artwork, the name of the artist (unless stated to be anonymous), a short biography, and any descriptive text to support the piece.
3. Written submissions, such as poetry and prose, should be attached as a Word document to the same address.
4. We will only accept contributions from University of Reading students, staff, alumni, and those living in the Reading area. We cannot guarantee a reply to every submission.
The Canvas, published twice a year, is a forum for work by students, staff, and alumni of Reading University, and residents in the local area. It occasionally features work by visiting writers and artists. Submit before the 31st of October to be considered for the Spring issue, and before the 30th of June to be considered for the Autumn issue.
