Volney Road Review is a biannual literary magazine based in Youngstown, Ohio. We have decided to dedicate the magazine to the Youngstown great, Volney Rogers, whose actions led to the creation of Mill Creek Park. VRR is also dedicated to Volney Road, a historical neighborhood in Youngstown, which contains some amazing homes—hidden gems of the city. Our goal is to give a platform to the unpublished gems hidden within the repertoires of established and emerging authors.
Please read our submission guidelines carefully before submitting:
All submissions should be sent in doc, docx, or pdf.
Formatting for all pieces should be in Times New Roman, pt. 12 font.
Prose submissions should be double spaced.
We accept previously unpublished work. All rights revert back to the author/artist after publication of the issue.
We do accept simultaneous submissions, but please let us know as soon as possible if your submission is accepted elsewhere.
Send us anywhere from 1-3 poems. We prefer that they all be in one document. We prefer a maximum of 5 pages of poetry.
Word limit for prose pieces: short fiction is 2,500 words and flash fiction is 500 words. We accept one piece of prose per submission.
Send anywhere from 1-5 visual art pieces per submission.
We do accept poetry with unique spacing; however, it is difficult to perfectly match spacing when publishing.
Please refrain from putting any personal information, such as name or past publication is in your actual submission.
However, if you are local to Northeast Ohio, please mention that in a header on your submission.
